Welcome to Tirindrish
Tirindrish House was once the centre of intrigue and home to Highland hero Donald MacDonell who bravely launched the first skirmish of the Jacobite rebellion in 1745. Now the house and grounds have been transformed into a tranquil base for those seeking self-catering or bed and breakfast accommodation in beautiful surroundings.
Located in the Great Glen on the outskirts of Spean Bridge village, we offer magnificent views of Ben Nevis mountain range and the Aonach Mor ski area.
We are located in 15 acres of private and secluded grounds with a tennis court for guests use, are excellently positioned for cyclists, walkers and climbers, and can pick up guests' at Spean Bridge Station (which has direct links with Glasgow and the South).
Our three cottages – which all have their own large garden area and are well away from their neighbours – offer plenty of parking space and secure garaging for cycles or motorbikes.
We are under 15 minutes’ drive from the mountain gondola on Aonach Mor. In summer the gondola provides visitors with a great chance to take in the views of Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis, and also access to one of the world’s most exhilarating downhill rides. In winter it gives skiers and snowboarders quick access to the mountain’s upper slopes. We are also within easy reach of beauty spots such as Glen Roy, with its ice age Parallel Roads, Glen Nevis, Loch Ness, Loch Lochy and the Caledonian Canal.
If you like the outdoor life this is the perfect place. Wildlife abounds in the area, a scenic paradise for photographers. Steam train fans can ride the Jacobite special to Mallaig between Spring and Autumn (it crosses the viaduct made famous in the Harry Potter movie). Pony trekking, quad biking and water sports are all within easy reach from Spean Bridge – an ideal hub for exploring the Highlands.
But if you want just to take things easy, our gardens are perfect – filled with magnificent trees and shrubs – and with a viewpoint with incredible views.
